Emma White is a Baltimore performer with a voice that punches through her soft demeanor and her humble attitude, transitioning easily between genres. With tracks like “His Eyes” showcasing her country roots to her collaboration with College Park R&B artist Know-Flow entitled “Come and Hold Me,” she's emerging as a versatile singer. When I sat down with Emma she was just returning home from Nashville for a few days before heading up to New York City to meet with people in the music industry. All of the traveling back and forth does not seem to bother her. Emma could not be happier about where her life is headed.
MU: Tell us where your love for music started?
EW: Very young, around five. I started performing around 8 years old. My first performance was at a little league game in Baltimore. I was extremely nervous but I had the drive to come back and do it again.
MU: Did you go to school for music?
EW: Yes I did. I started out at University of Maryland and tried the regular college route before transferring to Berklee. That was a huge adjustment from studying music part time to all the courses being music based.

MU: Tell us about your vocal style and how has it evolved from when you started to where you are now?
EW: I follow what I am interested in. I'll sing R&B, Pop, and Country. I'm getting more into country lately and have been traveling back and forth from Nashville.
MU: I have heard that Nashville is a tough place to play. Can you tell us about the audience reception there compared to Baltimore?
EW: Everyone in Nashville is a part of the business. If you are not a singer then you are an industry type. It's hard to get a following because everyone is doing the same thing. When I play here in Maryland it feels like home. Everyone is really supportive, so I prefer it here in my hometown.
MU: What are your plans for the future? Where do you see yourself in five years?
EW: Making great music. Hopefully as a full time job, if not performing all over the world.
Emma White will be playing at Patsy's in Bethany Beach Delaware on July 2nd and 3rd
